Tips for writing a pharmacy technician resume
Put CPhT and your state status near the top
Pharmacy managers check credentials first. Add CPhT to your headline and list the certifying body, such as PTCB or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), plus your state registration or license status. Technician rules vary by state, so confirm what yours requires with your state board of pharmacy.
Lead with volume and accuracy
Two numbers every pharmacy manager understands are how many prescriptions your store fills per day and how accurate your work is. Give a daily prescription range and an accuracy measure, such as your error rate on pharmacist verification.
Show you can solve insurance problems
Claim rejections, prior authorizations and coordination of benefits slow down every pharmacy. A bullet showing how many rejections you resolve per day, or how you shortened waits for held prescriptions, sets you apart from resumes that only say 'filled prescriptions'.
Name your pharmacy software
List the dispensing systems you have used, such as PioneerRx, EnterpriseRx or Rx30. If you used a chain's in-house system, describe it in plain words like 'chain dispensing and claims system'. The ATS keyword checker can show which software terms a posting uses.
Describe inventory and controlled substance work accurately
Ordering, cycle counts, outdate checks and controlled substance logs show you can be trusted beyond the counter. Use accurate wording such as 'assisted the pharmacist with', since pharmacists hold responsibility for many of these tasks.
Keep your CPhT current
PTCB certification renews every 2 years with 20 hours of continuing education, including 1 hour of pharmacy law and 1 hour of patient safety. List the credential only while it is active, and add the expiration date if a posting asks for it.
