Tips for writing a real estate agent resume
Lead with production numbers
Brokers want to see what you have closed. List transactions, sales volume, average days on market and list-to-sale price ratio for each year or role, such as '28 closed transactions worth $10.4 million in 2025.' Use figures you can document from MLS or brokerage records.
List your license, state and designations
Write your license exactly as your state issues it, such as sales associate, salesperson or broker, with the state. Then add designations like ABR, SRS or PSA, which come from the National Association of REALTORS and its affiliated councils and require coursework, and for ABR and SRS, closed transactions.
Show you follow current buyer agreement rules
Since August 17, 2024, NAR members and MLS participants who work with buyers must sign a written agreement with the buyer before touring a home. A bullet like 'signed written buyer agreements before every tour' shows a broker you follow current practice. Your state may add its own rules, so follow your broker's guidance.
Prove you can find business
Lead generation matters as much as closing. Mention your database size, referral share, open house results and lead response time. New agents can show sphere building, community involvement or past sales results.
Newly licensed? Use transferable experience
Leasing, retail, customer service, teaching and sales jobs all build skills agents use every day. Describe them with numbers like tours given, sales closed or clients served. Add your pre-licensing course, exam date and any brokerage training program.
Keep it to one page and add links
Most agent resumes fit on one page. Add links to your agent website or online reviews in the header so a broker can see your marketing and client feedback. Keep the resume itself clean and easy to scan.
