Each page in this section answers one question: what does a large US employer pay its hourly workers? Company pay changes often, so every page lists dated sources. JobQuix is not affiliated with any of these companies, and the names are used only to describe the employer.
Which company pay page fits the job you want?
| Company | Type of work | Pay page | Interview practice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Walmart | Discount retail and grocery | How much Walmart pays | Walmart interview quiz |
| Target | Retail stores | How much Target pays | Target interview quiz |
| Costco | Warehouse club stores | How much Costco pays | Costco interview quiz |
| Home Depot | Home improvement stores | How much Home Depot pays | Retail interview quiz |
| Amazon | Warehouses and delivery | How much Amazon pays | Amazon interview quiz |
| Starbucks | Coffee shops | How much Starbucks pays | Starbucks interview quiz |
| McDonald's | Fast food restaurants | How much McDonald's pays | McDonald's interview quiz |
| Chick-fil-A | Fast food restaurants | How much Chick-fil-A pays | Chick-fil-A interview quiz |
| FedEx | Package sorting and delivery | How much FedEx pays | Warehouse interview quiz |
How should you compare pay between employers?
Compare the same role in the same area, since pay can differ by job, location and shift. Then check the minimum wage in your state, because a state rate can set a higher floor than the federal one. Finally, run each offer through the paycheck calculator to see what you keep after taxes.
Hourly rate is only part of the offer. Scheduled hours, overtime chances, paid time off and other benefits can make a lower wage worth more over a year, so ask the recruiter what is included before you compare.
What should you do after picking a company?
Check the company's own careers site for current openings and posted pay in your area, since rates change. Then practice with the interview quiz in the table above. The company quizzes use questions you are likely to hear based on each employer's published job requirements, and the retail and warehouse quizzes cover the same kind of work at Home Depot and FedEx.
