How Maryland taxes your paycheck

Maryland taxes wages at graduated rates from 2% to 6.5%; the 6.25% and 6.5% brackets were added by the Budget Reconciliation and Financing Act of 2025 and are unchanged for 2026. The same Act replaced the old 15%-of-income standard deduction with a flat amount indexed from 2026, which the Comptroller's 2026 withholding guide sets at $3,400 for single filers. FAMLI paid-leave contributions start January 1, 2027, so no employee contribution is collected in 2026.

What this calculator does not include

The $3,200 personal exemption phases down above federal AGI of $100,000 single ($150,000 joint), and the joint/head-of-household standard deduction ($6,850) is computed from the statutory inflation formula because the Comptroller has not yet published it. County income tax, itemized-deduction limits, the capital gains surtax and EITCs are ignored. The calculator also leaves out dependents, tax credits, additional withholding on your W-4 and non-wage income. Your employer's withholding can differ from your final tax bill.
