How Georgia taxes your paycheck
HB 463 (Georgia Economic Growth and Tax Relief Act of 2026), signed May 11, 2026 and retroactive to January 1, 2026, cut the flat rate from 5.19% (2025) to 4.99% for tax year 2026. The same law raised the standard deduction from $12,000 to $15,000 (single, head of household, MFS) and from $24,000 to $30,000 (MFJ), raised the dependent exemption to $5,000, and added 2026-2028 subtractions of up to $1,750 each for qualified overtime and cash tips. Georgia has no personal exemption for filers. Employers withheld at 5.19% until May 11, 2026, and further 0.125-point annual cuts toward 3.99% are possible from 2027 only if revenue triggers are met.

What this calculator does not include
The calculator ignores the dependent exemption ($5,000 each), the $1,750 overtime and cash-tip subtractions, the retirement income exclusion, itemized deductions, and the low-income credit. Head of household uses the same $15,000 deduction as single, which is correct for Georgia. The calculator also leaves out dependents, tax credits, additional withholding on your W-4 and non-wage income. Your employer's withholding can differ from your final tax bill.
