How Arkansas taxes your paycheck

Act 1 and Act 2 of the 2026 First Extraordinary Session (HB 1001 / SB 1, signed May 6, 2026) cut Arkansas's top individual rate from 3.9% to 3.7% retroactive to January 1, 2026, and DFA revised its 2026 withholding formula on May 29, 2026. The brackets shown are the schedule in Act 1 and DFA's 2026 withholding formula, used for net taxable income up to about $94,700 (0% to $5,600, then 2%, 3%, 3.4%, and 3.7% from $26,400). The standard deduction is $2,470 per taxpayer ($4,940 joint), the 2025 indexed amount that DFA's 2026 withholding formula and 2026 estimated-tax vouchers also use. Instead of an exemption, filers get a $29 personal tax credit ($58 on a joint or head-of-household return). The schedule is the same for every filing status.

What this calculator does not include

Arkansas uses three schedules: low-income tables that zero out or reduce tax for low incomes; the middle-income schedule encoded here; and, above roughly $97,600 of net income, a schedule of 2% on the first $4,700 and 3.7% above it, with a bracket-adjustment phase-in between about $94,700 and $97,600, so this model understates tax above about $94,700 by up to about $287 (367.16 - 79.90). Act 1 requires the tables to be adjusted annually, so the 2026 return brackets and standard deduction (not yet published by DFA) may end up slightly higher than these withholding figures. Returns also figure tax from $100-wide tables below $100,000, and the model ignores dependent, age-65 and other credits. The calculator also leaves out dependents, tax credits, additional withholding on your W-4 and non-wage income. Your employer's withholding can differ from your final tax bill.
