How much does Home Depot pay per hour?
Home Depot’s starting rate is at least $15 an hour. The company first set that floor in every U.S. market in February 2023, when it announced an additional $1 billion in wage increases for frontline hourly associates. Its Living Our Values Report for fiscal 2025, published August 28, 2026, restates that the starting rate is at least $15 an hour.
Home Depot does not publish an average hourly wage or a pay range for each store role on its public pages. What it does publish is how pay grows after you start: a yearly merit budget and a twice-yearly profit-sharing bonus called Success Sharing.
Check the posting for your store on careers.homedepot.com before you apply, and ask the hiring team for the rate if the posting does not list one.
What has Home Depot said about pay recently?
| Date | What Home Depot reported |
|---|---|
| February 2023 | Starting wage at or above $15 an hour in every U.S. market, part of an extra $1 billion in wage increases for frontline hourly associates |
| Fiscal 2025 | A 3% merit increase budget for hourly and salaried associates |
| Fiscal 2025 | About $288 million in Success Sharing bonuses for non-management associates |
| Fiscal 2025 | 100% of eligible stores earned Success Sharing in both halves of the year |
| Last three years | About $744 million in total Success Sharing awards |
Fiscal 2025 ran from February 3, 2025, to February 1, 2026. The report also says Home Depot had its highest hourly tenure since 2017 in U.S. stores in 2025, meaning hourly associates stayed longer on average.
What is Home Depot Success Sharing?
Success Sharing is Home Depot’s long-standing profit-sharing bonus for non-management associates. It is paid on top of hourly pay, and the company measures it in two halves of the year.
Home Depot’s careers site says these incentives are subject to change based on location, company performance and role type. In fiscal 2025, every eligible store earned the bonus in both halves, for a total of about $288 million.
Home Depot does not publish a per-person amount, and it varies by store results. Treat Success Sharing as a possible bonus, not a guaranteed part of your pay, when you budget.
Which benefits come with Home Depot pay?
Home Depot’s benefits page, checked in October 2026, spells out which hourly associates get what. Your schedule type matters.

| Dental and vision | Yes; a $120 vision plan is free to all associates | Yes; a $120 vision plan is free to all associates |

Other benefits Home Depot lists:
- 401(k) match. The FutureBuilder 401(k) includes company matching contributions.
- Stock purchase plan. You can buy Home Depot stock at a 15% discount, subject to a cap, through payroll deductions.
- Paid holidays. Six per year for eligible associates.
- Education help. Tuition reimbursement, scholarships and discounted tuition at partner schools.
- Counseling. A free Employee Assistance Program with 6 counseling sessions per situation, per year, for associates and their households.
Because medical coverage is limited to full-time associates, ask how many hours the role is scheduled before you accept. Our guide to how many hours is full time explains why employers draw that line differently.
How do you find the pay for a specific Home Depot job?
Because Home Depot publishes a floor rather than role-by-role ranges, the posting is your best guide.
- Search careers.homedepot.com by store or city. Home Depot says it accepts applications only on that site, or on its internal site for current associates.
- Compare the posted rate with your local minimum wage. In some states the legal minimum is already above $15.
- Check the schedule type. Full-time and part-time hourly associates earn different vacation, sick time and health benefits, as the table above shows.
- Ask how Success Sharing works at that store. The bonus depends on store results, so ask how the store has done on it recently.
Overtime can also raise your pay. Under federal law, covered nonexempt employees earn at least one and a half times their regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek, so at $15 an hour, each overtime hour pays at least $22.50.
If the posting leaves out details, ask before you accept:
“Could you confirm the hourly rate for this position, whether it is full-time or part-time, and when I would first be eligible for Success Sharing?”
How much is Home Depot pay per year?
Multiply the hourly rate by your weekly hours, then by 52. At the $15 starting floor:
| Weekly hours | Weekly pay | Yearly pay before taxes |
|---|---|---|
| 20 | $300 | $15,600 |
| 30 | $450 | $23,400 |
| 40 | $600 | $31,200 |
These totals leave out Success Sharing, overtime and raises. A 3% raise on $15 an hour, the size of Home Depot’s 2025 merit budget, adds $0.45 an hour, or $936 a year at 40 hours a week. For take-home pay by state, see what $15 an hour is per year.
How does Home Depot pay compare with minimum wage?
Home Depot’s $15 floor is more than double the $7.25 federal minimum. In Georgia, where the company is based, the Georgia minimum wage is the federal $7.25, so the company floor is well above the legal one.
In higher-wage states the law sets a higher floor. The New Jersey minimum wage is $15.92 an hour for most workers in 2026, so no Home Depot job there can start at $15. Check the minimum wage in your state for the rate where you would work.
For context, Bureau of Labor Statistics data for May 2025 puts the national median at $17.03 an hour for retail salespersons and $19.35 for hand laborers and freight, stock and material movers. Both occupations are common in building material and supplies stores, according to BLS. Those medians cover every employer, so use them as a rough benchmark when you read a Home Depot posting.
How can you move up at Home Depot?
Home Depot publishes clear evidence that hourly work leads to leadership:
- Store leaders start hourly. More than 90% of Home Depot’s U.S. store leaders started as hourly associates, as of the end of 2025.
- Training hours. The company invested about 12.3 million hours in training U.S. associates in 2025, including about 11.0 million hours for frontline associates.
- One published path. The fiscal 2025 report profiles a district manager who started as a lot associate in 2003, then worked as an order fulfillment associate and a customer service and sales associate before becoming a department supervisor, a specialty assistant store manager, an operations store manager and then a store manager.
- Corporate pathways. A Career Mobility Program opens Store Support Center roles to hourly associates who are not pursuing a college degree, and a Field-to-Store Support Center internship serves hourly associates enrolled in school.
In the report’s example, department supervisor was the first leadership role. When you are offered a new role, compare the old and new hourly rates over a full year before you decide.
How do you prepare for a Home Depot interview?
Store roles named in Home Depot’s own report include lot associate, order fulfillment associate and customer service and sales associate. Practice with our retail interview quiz, which covers the customer service and teamwork questions retail employers commonly ask.
Ask the interviewer whether the role is full-time or part-time and how Success Sharing works at that store, since both affect your total pay.
