Tips for describing customer service representative work
Lead with your metrics
CSAT, first contact resolution, average handle time and quality scores are the language of support teams. Put your best 2 or 3 numbers in the top bullets of each job.
Name your channels and volume
Say whether you handled phone, email, chat or social media, and how many contacts per day. Channel plus volume tells a manager what kind of queue you can handle.
List the systems you used
Recruiters search for tools like Salesforce, Zendesk and Microsoft Dynamics. List the CRM, ticketing and phone systems you actually used in your skills section.
Show problem solving, not just politeness
A bullet about a fix you found, such as a macro, guide or process change that cut repeat contacts, proves more than "excellent people skills." Give the before and after number if you have it.
Tailor to the industry
Retail support centers on orders and returns, while banking and insurance roles center on accounts and policies, and some of those roles require a state license. Move the duties that match the posting to the top.
